| Rohto Pharmaceuticals Japan (Rohto) |
Rohto Pharmaceuticals Japan (Rohto), a public listed company, acquired 40% equity stake in Deep Care Health Private Limited (“Deep Care”). The deal was finalized in September 2013 and all legal and compliance approvals were in place in November 2013.
The newly formed company Sunways Rohto Pvt. Ltd (SRPL), will be based in Dholka, Gujarat (near Ahmadabad). The main objective of the JV is to engage in the business of manufacturing prescription and over-the-counter (i.e., non-prescription) ophthalmological products (including eye drops, eye wash and ophthalmological injections) and dermatological products (including lip care, acne care, skin care and cosmetics) and other healthcare and beauty products.
Deep Care, a part of the Sunways Group of companies, has a WHO-GMP and ISO certified manufacturing facility. This facility manufactures SVP (Small Volume Parentrals), sterile ophthalmologic formulations, injections and ointments.
Rohto, headquartered in Osaka, Japan, is a leading global healthcare company and is one of the largest over-the-counter eye-care pharmaceutical companies in Japan. Rohto has a very strong presence in the ophthalmic solutions manufacturing and marketing domain in Asia, Europe and the US markets. With world-class manufacturing in Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, USA, etc. they bring a long tradition of value driven business into India. |
