| Description |
Role of Omega 3 fatty acids + omega 6 fatty acids in Dry Eye Syndrome: Omega 6 fatty acids (evening primrose oil) when consumed converts into linolenic acid, then to Gamma linolenic acid (GLA), furthermore to Dihomo Gamma Linolenic Acid (DGLA) which then releases PGE1, an anti-inflammatory agent which reduces the inflammation and increases aqueous tear production.
Similarly when omega 3 fatty acids when consumed converts into Alpha linolenic Acid (ALA) , then to Steridonic Acid, furthermore to Elcosatraenoic Acid which then release PG3 and LTB5 , an anti-inflammatory agents which reduces the inflammation and increases aqueous tear production.
