Description
Oflo BM is a combination of ofloxacin and betamethasone.Ofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic used to treat ocular infection and betamethasone is a corticosteroid used to treat ocular inflammation by inhibiting inflammatory mediators
Indications
Oflo-BM Eye ointment is indicated for steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions for which a corticosteroid is indicated and where bacterial ocular infection or a risk of bacterial ocular infection exists.
Dosage
A small amount of eye ointment is applied to the lower lid, 1-3 times daily depending on the severity of the infection.
Contraindications
Oflo BM is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or other quinolones and dexamethasone or other steroids or any of the components present in the formulation.
Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic keratitis), vaccinia, varicella, and in many other viral diseases of the conjunctiva and cornea, mycobacterial infection of the eye, fungal diseases of ocular structures.
Precautions
Pregnancy
Safety of the use of oflo BM in pregnancy has not been established, there are no adequate studies in pregnant women. It should be used with caution only if the potential benefit justifies the risks to the fetus.

Nursing Mothers
Systemic absorption of Oflo BM may occur when applied topically. Because of the potential for serious, adverse reactions in nursing infants from Oflo BM, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

Geriatric Use
No overall difference in safety or effectiveness have been observed between elderly and younger, adult patients.

Adverse Effects
Transient ocular burning or discomfort, stinging, itching, redness, tearing, and dryness may occur.
