Indications
Gentamide is indicated in the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis & keratitis, caused by susceptible strains of the following microorganisms:

Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli; Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Neisseriagonorrhoeae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Serratia marcescens.

Gentamide is indicated in the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis & keratitis, caused by susceptible strains of the following microorganisms:

Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli; Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Neisseriagonorrhoeae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Serratia marcescens
Dosage
Instill one or two drops into the affected eye(s) every four hours. In severe infections dosage may be increased to as much as two drops every hour.
Contraindications
Gentamicin Sulphate ophthalmic solution is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components.
Precautions
Pregnanacy
Gentamicin should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

Nursing Mothers 
Systemic absorption of gentamicin may occur when applied topically. Because of the potential for serious, adverse reactions in nursing infants from gentamicin, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

Pediatric Use
The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients below 1 year of age have not been established.

Geriatric Use
No overall difference in safety or effectiveness have been observed between elderly and younger, adult patients.

Adverse Effects
The most frequently reported adverse reactions are ocular burning and irritation upon drug instillation, non-specific conjunctivitis, conjunctival epithelial defects and conjunctival hyperemia.
